As OnPath enters its next phase of growth, they are seeking a strategic and visionary Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to help shape the future of the organization. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise strategy, help guide the organization's roadmap to $5 billion in assets, and lead the people, talent, and culture initiatives that will support OnPath's long-term growth and success. Through strategic growth initiatives, mergers and acquisitions, and continued organic expansion, OnPath is seeking a leader who understands that sustainable growth is driven by people, culture, leadership, and talent. 

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the President & CEO and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CHRO will lead enterprise-wide human resources, talent management, leadership development, workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, and culture initiatives that support this growth strategy. 

The CEO is looking to partner with a leader who proactively shapes talent and organizational strategy, provides candid feedback, challenges thinking when appropriate, and helps ensure the leadership team is prepared for the next phase of growth.

The ideal candidate is a highly collaborative individual with executive presence who can build strong relationships, foster accountability, and influence outcomes across all levels of the organization. This individual will bring both strategic perspective and operational discipline, balancing long-term workforce planning with hands-on execution and a commitment to optimizing people, processes, and performance through continuous improvement. The role is well-suited for a leader who enjoys building, scaling, and developing organizations and is energized by helping leaders and teams reach their full potential. 


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the President & CEO and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Provide candid feedback, executive coaching, and strategic guidance while mentoring executive leaders and embracing creative conflict to challenge assumptions, strengthen decision-making, and improve organizational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with executive leaders to align people strategies with business objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and leadership excellence by helping executives define success, establish performance expectations, and develop their teams.
  • Participate as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to organizational strategy, planning, and decision-making.

Growth, Workforce Planning & Organizational Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive human resources strategy that supports OnPath's growth objectives and long-term business plans toward $5B in assets.
  • Lead workforce planning initiatives, anticipating future talent needs and organizational capabilities required to support expansion.
  • Design organizational structures and talent strategies that enable scale while preserving culture and employee engagement.
  • Establish meaningful human resources metrics and key performance indicators that support organizational goals and inform executive decision-making.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure talent investments align with operational and financial objectives.
  • Develop strategies to retain and grow high-performing talent across the organization.
  • Build leadership development programs that strengthen organizational capability and prepare future leaders.

Talent Acquisition & Retention

  • Lead the full talent acquisition lifecycle, including recruiting and onboarding.
  • Strengthen recruiting processes to improve hiring outcomes, reduce time-to-fill, and enhance the candidate experience.
  • Create scalable onboarding and training programs that support new employees for success.

Mergers, Acquisitions & Change Management

  • Lead the people strategy associated with mergers, acquisitions, and organizational transformation initiatives.
  • Support workforce integration, change management, culture alignment, communication planning, and talent retention efforts.
  • Ensure employees and leaders are equipped to navigate growth and change successfully.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven executive leadership experience (15+ years) in Human Resources, Talent Management, Organizational Development, and Total Rewards, including experience leading people strategies that support organizational growth and transformation.
  • Two or more years of experience serving as a CHRO, CPO, EVP, SVP, or comparable senior human resources executive, either within a $1B-$2B organization or a larger, more complex enterprise.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with CEOs, executive leadership teams, and boards of directors on talent strategy, executive compensation, succession planning, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Experience leading large-scale change management, organizational transformation, organizational restructuring, and merger and acquisition initiatives.
  • Strong business acumen with expertise in talent acquisition, leadership development, employee engagement, performance management, culture development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, coaching, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, challenge, and build consensus across all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience supporting organizations with assets or revenue exceeding $3 billion.
  • Financial services, banking, or credit union experience.
  • Experience with HR technology, people analytics, workforce planning, and emerging AI-enabled HR solutions.
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or comparable senior HR certification.
  • Active involvement in credit unions, human resources, or other relevant professional organizations.
